Finance Cost Optimization - AWS Cloud

LOCATION: Chicago, IL, 3 DAYS ONSITE AND 2 DAYS REMOTE
Need a candidate to focus on Finance cost optimization to develop and implement a cost optimization strategy for cloud spent policies and process around cloud financial governance. You will need a deep knowledge of AWS billing structures, pricing models, services experience with AWS cost explorer AWS budgets AWS billing console. basic scripting creating custom cost review dashboards power BI tableau or excel knowledge of automation tools like Terraform AWS Cloud Formation
WORK TO BE PERFORMED: Will develop and implement a cost optimization strategy for cloud spend under the supervision of an employee.
- Deliverables include process to identify and optimize resource utilization and reduce waste
- Understanding and recommendations with regards to purchasing strategies
- Process to create forecasts and budgets for cloud spend based on current and projected service mix and usage pattern
- Policies and process around cloud financial governance, including budget alerts, spending limits, approval workflows based on spend thresholds, tagging and cost allocation strategy
- Develop an AWS bill audit process and conduct regular reviews
- Participate in cloud and vendor contract discussions
- Define maturity targets for the Finance function with regards to financial transparency, optimization
- and planning capabilities
SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Deep knowledge of AWS billing structures, pricing models, and services
- Experience leveraging cloud financial tools like AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Billing Console
- Experience defining and implementing tagging policies and cost allocation mechanisms
- Understanding of financial controls and implementing them cross-functionally
- Basic scripting (Python, Bash) for creating custom cost review dashboards and proficiency with reporting tools like PowerBI, Tableau or excel
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Preferred: experience with automation tools (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
